The beautiful game...

Having the opportunity to play in a World Cup is a special achievement and the four-year old son of Sweden striker Marcus Berg perfectly summed up what it means with his reaction to his father making his World Cup debut.

Berg, now playing for Al Ain in Abu Dhabi, led the line for Sweden as they got off to a winning start in their first World Cup match for 12 years.

After VAR awarded a penalty for a foul on Viktor Claesson, captain Andreas Granqvist stepped up and put his spot-kick away with conviction to give his side a 1-0 win over South Korea.

Berg's wife, Josefine, filmed the reaction of their son, Leonel, who was overcome with emotion when he saw his Dad step onto the turf in a World Cup tournament for the first time.

It's a wonderful moment that shows what the beautiful game is all about.

Josefine, who has been married to the 31-year old since 2014, produced a lovely caption to go with the heartwarming clip.

"This moment," she wrote on Instagram.

"Right there and then I was so emotional watching @marcusberg9 entering the field, then I looked down at Leonel and saw tears falling slowly down his cheeks.

"Our boy, watching his hero entering the stage. It was like everything froze, so beautiful and pure.

"This is the best way to describe how proud we are of you. You are and will always be our hero.'"

Berg, meanwhile, has been in the news for another brilliant reason after he ran a competition whereby the winner would house-sit his apartment while he is away in Russia.

28-year-old Jesper Bergkvist was the lucky winner and had 10 of his mates round the 950-sq ft Gothenburg flat for the South Korea game.

Berg left a note on the fridge for him, instructing Jesper to look after the flowers, explore the city and cheer whenever Sweden play.
