Manchester United are reportedly concerned about Bruno Fernandes and his current condition.

The Portuguese midfielder has been a revelation ever since he joined from Sporting in January, scoring 14 goals and registering ten assists in 26 games.

He immediately became United's main and gave the team the impetus to finish in third position in the Premier League and secure an automatic Champions League spot after a stunning run of post-lockdown form.

However, Fernandes, having opened the scoring from the spot in his last game against Spurs, was hooked at half-time following Anthony Martial's dismissal.

And according to O Jogo, United are worried about the 'mental and physical wear' on Fernandes - who has played an awful lot of football of late.

They fear he is feeling the pressure from taking on such an important role within the team and will no doubt have been happy to see him get a deserved rest as he was not involved in Portugal's 0-0 draw with Spain last night.

United signed a total of five players on deadline day, including former PSG striker Edinson Cavani and Porto left-back Alex Telles.

The Brazil defender signed for a fee of £15.4million and has already spoken to fellow Portuguese speaker Fernandes about the move.

"I believe I'm going to meet a marvellous group," Telles told Manchester United's official website.

"I've spoken to Bruno Fernandes and he's said how welcoming the boys are. I believe I will settle very well into the group."
