Manchester United fans will have Tuesday and Wednesday nights free for most of the season and because of their Thursday night commitments there also won't be too much Saturday afternoon football either. For one of their players Thursday night is also free.

Across Manchester Pep Guardiola was busy dropping Yaya Toure from his Champions League squad but anything Pep can do, Jose can do exactly the same. A day after including Bastian Schweinsteiger in his Premier League squad the United boss has dropped the German from European commitments.

The former Bayern Munich midfielder has dropped out of the plans of the new manager slotting in behind Paul Pogba, Marouane Fellaini, Morgan Schneiderlin and Michael Carrick in the pecking order. He chose not to move away from Old Trafford and he's paid for that by being out of the 25 man Europa League squad:

Schweinsteiger moved from Germany to England last season to much acclaim but injuries and form meant he didn't play that much last season as the Red Devils failed to finish in the top four for the second time in three seasons.

According to reports fellow teammates had warned the former Germany captain to stop following his wife, Anna Ivanovic, round the world to watch her play tennis and instead focus on his fitness.

Whatever the case Mourinho clearly doesn't fancy him and 'Basti' is likely to leave for the MLS or China later in the season.
