Manchester United have evidently identified Inter Milan's Ivan Perisic but the negotiations have dragged on.

Last month, reports indicated that it was more or less a done deal for the Croatian winger to move to Old Trafford. However Inter are refusing to budge and have slapped a €55 million (£48 million) price tag on the former Wolfsburg man.

And so the Red Devils are said to have picked out another Serie A star as the perfect alternative.

Mediaset Premium say United have registered an interest in Fiorentina winger Federico Bernardeschi.

The 23-year old, currently away with Italy Under 21's at the Under 21 European Championships, scored 14 goals and contributed further with five assists in all competitions last term, and has Juventus and Chelsea seriously interested in recruiting him.

The report says Juventus are leading the race, and are planning a €40 million offer, excluding bonuses, in the coming days.

But it's also noted that Fiorentina would prefer not to sell to the league's dominant team and strengthen them even further, and so instead would more open to the idea of selling Bernardeschi to Chelsea or United, who have now joined the race.

United fans, would you take Bernardeschi if you can't strike a deal to land Perisic?

Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
