Juan Mata has been ranked as Manchester United's best signing since Sir Alex Ferguson left in an online poll.

The Spaniard joined the club from Chelsea in January 2014 for a fee of £37 million and has gone on to make 249 appearances for the Red Devils, scoring 47 goals.

While Mata is more of a bit-part player these days, United fans deem him to have been a good servant to the club and in a BBC Sport poll, he tops the list with 34.2k up votes at the time of writing.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic's 28 goals in 46 games during Jose Mourinho's 'treble' season in 2016/17 after arriving on a free is still fondly remembered by United supporters, who placed him in second spot with 31.2k up votes.

Uber reliable back-up goalkeeper Sergio Romero comes in third with 29.9k, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka in fourth on 28.9k after making a strong start to his career at Old Trafford since arriving for £50 million in the summer.

Ander Herrera lies in fifth with 28.5k up votes to further underline United fans' disappointment at him being allowed to leave for PSG on a free, while new signings Daniel James (28.2k) and Harry Maguire (24.2k) are in sixth and seventh respectively.

Romelu Lukaku completes the top 10, one ahead of Anthony Martial, with club-record signing Paul Pogba all the way down in 18th.

Even further down the list, Radamel Falcao is ranked the worst signing out of the 28 notable additions having flopped when he signed on loan from Monaco in 2013/14.

Alexis Sanchez is 27th, with the likes of Morgan Schneiderlin, Matteo Darmian, Angel Di Maria and Memphis Depay all also among those near the bottom.

January additions Bruno Fernandes and Odion Ighalo have both been excluded, as has back-up goalkeeper Lee Grant.
