Manchester United Could Be Set To Lose Out On Midfield Target

He's been on their radar for quite some time...

Manchester United could be set to lose out on one of their summer midfield targets, with Inter Milan making a mammoth offer for Roma's Radja Nainggolan.

The 29-year old has been heavily linked with Chelsea in the last two transfer windows, and Nainggolan himself revealed that he had spoke briefly with Antonio Conte about moving to Stamford Bridge.

Last month, Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol confirmed United's interest.

Recent reports from Italy suggested that United were willing to spend just short of £40 million to land the Cagliari man, but the offer is considerably less to what Inter Milan are offering for Nainggolan to stay in Serie A.

New Inter Milan boss Luciano Spalletti managed Nainggolan for a season-and-a-half at Roma in his second stint at the Stadio Olimpico, and now wants to bolster his midfield at the San Siro club with the addition of the Belgium international.

Telelombardia claim that Inter's offer comprises of a whopping €60 million euros bid, excluding bonuses, for Nainggolan, with wages around the €7.5 million euros mark.

Another Italian outlet, Mediaset Premium, are also reporting Inter's advances but say that the salary on the table is €4.5 million euros, with bonuses then coming into play.

Nainggolan's all-action displays for Roma since his move have led to him being considered as one of the top central midfielders.

After a loan spell during the 2013/14 campaign, he joined the Giallorossi permanently and has gone on to make over 130 appearances for the club, scoring 26 goals in all competitions.

Of course, every single goal was an absolute thunderbastard - as is Nainggolan's speciality.

He is of huge importance for Roma and all that they do, and the club's stance has been that they will not sell. But a mega offer, like the one reported from Inter, could prove tempting.

Do you think Nainggolan will be on the move this summer? Will he be United-bound or will he join Inter Milan?

Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
