Manchester City's Etihad Stadium has been ranked as the best worldwide stadium for match-day experience ahead of Barcelona's Camp Nou, according to a shock study.

FOOTY conducted the research into 16 sports stadiums and based its findings on the "elements (we feel) [that] are the most important to fans when it comes to match day."

Ranking from best to worst, the stadiums that were selected were based on teams that finished first in their domestic leagues in the 2018-19 season or winning a 'significant' title in their respective sport.

The study also took into consideration other factors that were important to fans, ranging from season ticket prices and accessibility to seating capacity and transport time and links.

City's home stadium scored an impressive 70 out of 90, putting it seven points ahead of Barcelona's famous Camp Nou.

Bayern Munich's Allianz Arena received a score of 54 alongside Atlanta United's Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

And Zenit Saint Petersburg's Gazprom Arena and Benfica's Estadio Sport Lisboa e Benfica both shared the same score of 53.

Red Bull Salzburg's Stadion Wals-Siezenheim (51 score), Paris Saint-Germain's Parc des Princes (48 score) and the Boston Red Sox's Fenway Park (47 score) all made the top ten.

And Juventus secured the tenth spot in the worldwide rankings as the Allianz Stadium scored a 44.

According to FOOTY, the three stadiums that scored the lowest were all from the States: the Enterprise Centre, Gillette Stadium and Scotiabank Arena.

The top eight features the teams that all ranked in the worldwide stadium list.

But the top ten is rounded off by Galatasaray's Turk Telekom Stadium in ninth place with a score of 43 and Genk's Luminus Arena finishing tenth with 42.
