Manchester City To Continue Their Raid On Arsenal?

Manchester City To Continue Their Raid On Arsenal?

Pep Guardiola's squad could be about to get even stronger...

Manchester City are reportedly monitoring the situation of Arsenal man Alexis Sanchez, who has less than two years remaining on his contract at the Emirates, according to the Express.

Sanchez is yet to put pen to paper on a new deal, though Arsene Wenger and Arsenal are desperate to tie him down to a new contract.

But a big factor for the Chilean is whether Arsenal can seriously challenge for the league title. With Manchester City and Manchester United underachieving last season, many felt that Arsenal had their best possible chance for years to win the league but ultimately finished 10 points behind surprise winners Leicester City.

Pep Guardiola and City are watching closely and will look to swoop in should Sanchez fail to agree a new deal with the club - the former Barcelona man reportedly wants £200,000 a week for his contributions, while his advisors reportedly want a release clause inserted into any new contract. Arsenal may not be too keen on making that happen.

So there appears to be a realistic chance of Manchester City signing yet another player from Arsenal in the near future. City would have no qualms matching the 27-year old's wage demands and he would slot into a City side that have blown away teams this season. Pep Guardiola is clearly a huge admirer, having snapped him up when he was Barcelona boss back in 2011.

Juventus are also said to be interested in bringing him back to Italy. The Express report that should contract talks not progress, both City and Juventus will be waiting in the wings when the January transfer window opens.

Sanchez scored twice in Arsenal's win over Hull on Saturday, as well as missing a first-half penalty.
