Manchester United Table 'Offer Exceeding €40 Million' For Moussa Dembele
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is set to make some big and long overdue changes with the United squad for next season and United are actively looking to strengthen their attack with Lyon's Moussa Dembele.
Last month it was reported that United had made contact regarding a potential move, with Solskjaer studying Dembele and looking at his attitude as a means to find out whether he would be a worthwhile addition to his side.
And now, according to Benjamin Quarez from the French version of Goal, United have tabled a bid in excess of €40 million for the 22-year old striker.
Manchester United have submitted an opening bid for Lyon striker Moussa Dembélé worth more than €40m, according to the reliable @B_Quarez. More follows.- Get French Football News (@GFFN) May 24, 2019
Moussa Dembélé is still just 22 and since the start of the 2015/16 season, has 98 goals, 36 assists, in 150 starts for club(s) and France youth internationals. Averaged a goal or assist every 108 minutes for Lyon this season. (multiple outlets now reporting #MUFC interest) https://t.co/lLernf5N1v- Colin Millar (@Millar_Colin) May 24, 2019
£35m for Moussa Dembele? Only 22 years old but his goal record speaks for itself. I'll never forget his 16/17 season, 32 goals + 9 assists. This could be a very smart transfer for us. More evidence that Lukaku is off?- Josh (@manunitedmedia) May 24, 2019
The report from @B_Quarez says that #MUFC have made an offer for #Lyon striker Moussa Dembele on the suggestion of Eric Cantona, who admires his abilities. Cantona is pushing for Dembele's signature at #MUFC in the summer.- Kaustubh Pandey (@Kaus_Pandey17) May 24, 2019
Dembele still has four years remaining on his contract at the Groupama Stadium and Lyon would be doubling the money they paid to land him if they decided to accept United's proposal.
A Paris Saint-Germain youth product, Dembele scored 51 goals in 94 appearances for Celtic - winning back-to-back trebles under Brendan Rodgers.
Should he arrive back in England with United, it would likely bring about the end of Romelu Lukaku's stint at Old Trafford.
The Belgian, United's second most expensive addition, lost his place towards the end of last season.
