Manchester United got back to winning ways after a couple of drab draws with a win over bottom club Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored the opener half-an-hour into the game when he collected the ball on the edge of the box, displayed unrivalled strength to hold off Billy Jones and rolled the ball into the bottom corner.

His compatriot Sebastian Larsson was sent off in the first half after referee Craig Pawson deemed his challenge on Ander Herrera to be over the top and dangerous.

That killed any hopes of Sunderland giving a good account of themselves and from then on it was a routine win and display for United.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan struck a minute after the restart, before Ibrahimovic played substitute Marcus Rashford through in the last minute to make it 3-0.

There were certainly a few eyebrows raised when it came to some of the decisions made by Jose Mourinho for the game.

The decision to give captaincy to Marouane Fellaini, of all people, baffled many, including Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp.

Moreover, there were also concerns raised when United fans saw that goalkeeper David De Gea was not in the team.

However, Jose Mourinho confirmed that De Gea was sidelined with a slight injury and hoped that he would back in time for the clash with Chelsea next weekend.

The Spain No.1 didn't travel with the squad but was watching at home in Manchester and produced a number of tweets related to the game, which United fans definitely enjoyed.

He started it all off when Ibrahimovic bagged the opener on the half hour mark.

And he then expressed his delight when Mkhitaryan added a second just after half-time.

Marcus Rashford capped off the win with the third goal in the last minute and then prompted another celebratory tweet from De Gea, who referred to him as 'Kid'.

If De Gea isn't back in time for the Chelsea game, United should probably have him do the live tweeting.

The whole 'all caps and football emoji' combination could really catch on.
