Donny van de Beek wants to quit Old Trafford amid showdown talks over his future with Manchester United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward, according to stunning reports.

The 23-year-old Dutch midfielder's £35m arrival from Ajax last September was warmly welcomed by United fans at the time.

But Van De Beek's career at Old Trafford has failed to take off under United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The United outcast has only made two Premier League starts in 13 appearances and only scored once this season.

Van De Beek has made 26 appearances across all competitions, but he has struggled to establish himself as a regular in the starting XI.

The former Ajax star now fears for his long-term future at United and could fail to make the Netherlands' Euro 2020 squad this summer due to lack of playing time.

According to The Daily Star, Van De Beek will hold crunch talks with Woodward before the end of the season as he wants answers for being overlooked at United.

The Netherlands international has been sidelined with an injury, but he could return in time for United's second-leg Europa League clash with AC Milan on Thursday.

Speculation has mounted over Van De Beek and Solskjaer's relationship as it is believed that the United boss didn't want to sign him in the first place.

Former United star Mark Hughes has made a bold claim that Van De Beek hasn't earned the trust of his Red Devils teammates.

Bert van Marwijk, meanwhile, has staunchly defended his fellow countryman's time at United and hailed Van De Beek as an "excellent football player."

United will travel to the San Siro for their match with Milan in the Europa League on Thursday.

Milan picked up a 1-1 draw in the first leg round-of-16 clash at Old Trafford last week.
