Who knows where Leicester City would be without Riyad Mahrez right now but it probably wouldn't be top of the Premier League table. The Algerian revealed why he nearly didn't sign for the Foxes and it's definitely one of the more unusual reasons...
With 14 goals and 11 assists in the league this season the winger has been just as important as Jamie Vardy for Claudio Ranieri's team this season as they've been the unlikely title challengers all season.
However Mahrez, who joined Leicester in 2014 when they were in the Championship, revealed he didn't even realise they a football team when they tried to sign him saying: "I didn't know Leicester. In France we didn't really [know them] because they were in the Championship. I thought they were a rugby club."
In fairness to Mahrez usually the most successful sports team in Leicester is the Tigers but he also revealed that the club's facilities convinced him to sign on: "I was like: 'I don't know...' But then I came here to see the facilities and they were good. I do not regret signing for them, it's the best club I've ever been at."

After last night's draw against West Brom it remains to be seen if the Foxes and Mahrez can go on to win the Premier League but they are definitely the neutrals favourites.
