Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has set his sights on a new target after reports suggest that the Spanish club will be making a move for Reinier Jesus Carvalho.

The 17-year-old Flamengo midfielder has previously been linked with a move to Liverpool, but the reigning Champions League holders are ready to make a play for the highly rated player.

While the Brazil under-17s international has a contract with the club until 2021, the Sun reports that Los Blancos will trigger his £60.5m buyout clause.

However, the newspaper adds that the club would have to wait until next January before he would be able to make the move, mainly for how FIFA does not allow 'South American players under the age [of] 18 moving to European clubs unless their parents have moved to the nation for other reasons.'

Kléber Leite, the former president of Flamengo, revealed last year that Liverpool were keen to sign Reinier.

"I received certain information that the English club, who were monitoring the young Flamengo and Brazilian midfielder Reinier, 16, have already started negotiations with the boy's family," he said.

"Our young values are being erased prematurely, without even being able to write a page that is in the history of the Brazilian club that put them in the football world."

Los Blancos have already started to make early preparations ahead for the new season, having signed Éder Militão from Porto for £42.7m (€50m).

Following on from the shocking season under former Madrid bosses Julen Lopetegui and Santiago Solari, Los Blancos president Florentino Pérez is ready to release £300m of the club's funds to Zizou.

The 46-year-old Frenchman is keen to bring in Chelsea duo N'Golo Kanté and Eden Hazard, while Manchester City's Raheem Sterling has also emerged as a recent target.

Would Reinier be a hit at Madrid?
