Luke Shaw has vowed to help a Manchester United fan who was hauled out by security at Old Trafford after throwing a green and gold scarf at him.

Edinson Cavani fired United into the lead in the first half on Tuesday with a magnificent 40-yard chip past Fulham shot-stopper Alphonse Areola.

However, the Red Devils had to settle for a draw on the night as Joe Bryan's second-half equaliser sealed a point for relegated Fulham.

During the Premier League clash, one fan decided to throw a green and gold scarf at Shaw as the United player was preparing to take a corner.

The United supporter was told to 'leave not long after' and could face a potential three-year ban.

According to reports, Shaw 'laughed off the incident' as did 'half the stewards around the pitch.'

Twitter user Shaun Logan has since claimed that the scarf was thrown at the 25-year-old left-back in 'good manner' and it was 'nothing aggressive.'

The United fan wrote on Twitter: "Was thrown to Luke in a good manner. Nothing aggressive. Was told by the Stewards I'm facing a 3 year ban.

"All paid up for Gdańsk next week and this looks like it could be the end of the road for me. Was a peaceful gesture that was taken out of context. Luke shaw [sic] laughed..."

Shaw also took to social media to respond to the fan, saying that he understood "emotions are high" at Old Trafford and there was "nothing aggressive" in his actions.

The England international tweeted: "I understand completely, first match back at old [sic] Trafford, emotions are high.

"I know there was nothing aggressive towards what you did. I will try my best to speak with someone and sort it out."

United are second in the table and are 12 points behind Premier League champions Manchester City with one match left to be played.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men will play their final Premier League match of the season on Sunday as they travel to the Molineux to face Wolves.

The Red Devils will then challenge for major silverware in their last match of the season when they clash with Villarreal in the Europa League final on 26th May in Poland.
