Luis Suarez has issued a message to Mohamed Salah following his shoulder injury sustained in the Champions League final.

As a result, the Egyptian hero faces a race to be fit for the World Cup.

However, Salah has reportedly been declared fit with the Egyptian FA positive he'll lead his side in Russia.

But his fitness for Egypt's opening game of the tournament vs. Uruguay remains a doubt.

A devastating set of circumstances considering the season Salah has just enjoyed. We're talking 44 goals in all competitions in a stunning season.

And it's possibly preventing a meeting between a former and current Anfield favourite.

Uruguay open their World Cup campaign vs. Egypt, and Suarez is eager to face against him.

"When a colleague is injured and more in the type of match where he got injured, prior to the debut of a World Cup it is difficult and complicated to be in the situation that he is," he said via The Mirror.

The Barcelona ace wants to play against the best possible players, while hoping Salah is fully fit for the World Cup.

"When I play, I want the best opponents in front of me to show that Uruguay is better, not for our rival to be better but for Uruguay to win against the best.

"That's why I would like him to recover so that he can enjoy a World Cup which is going to be incredible."

Suarez actually went through a similar situation himself.

He went under the knife before the 2014 World Cup, missing Uruguay's opening game against Costa Rica.

"He [Salah] is in a situation that I went through four years ago, so I do not wish it on anyone."

Unfortunately, it looks unlikely Salah and Suarez will feature in opposite side on June 15th.

Yet here's hoping the 25-year-old winger returns to fitness for Egypt's other two fixtures against Russia then Saudi Arabia.
