The Brazilian isn't having any of it...

Spurs winger Lucas Moura isn't buying that no-one dribbled past Liverpool centre-back Virgil van Dijk last season.

A lot has been made about the Dutch defender's imperious displays seeing no attacker bypass him, with Opta saying that Van Dijk has gone 64 appearances for Liverpool without anyone successfully taking him on.

Earlier this year it was claimed that the last player to dribble past the former Celtic defender was former Newcastle midfielder Mikel Merino, who got the better of the 28-year old in March 2018.

But Moura refutes the stat regarding Van Dijk being dribble-less and pointed towards the goal he scored against Liverpool in a 2-1 loss at Anfield in March.

"Dude, now this question there I don't know if it's true," Moura told Brazilian YouTube channel Desimpedidos, as per Sport Witness.

"They say he hasn't been dribbled past since... whatever. If the guy is past him, it's already a dribble.

"I don't know, but the guys must have gone past him now.

"I know I scored a goal against Liverpool, we lost, but I scored against Liverpool and he was left behind. But he's great. He is."

After an incredible season for Liverpool where he won the PFA Player of the Year award and lifted the Champions League after a man-of-the-match performance in victory over Spurs in Madrid, Van Dijk has emerged as one of the leading contenders for this year's Ballon d'Or award.

And Moura believes he definitely has to be in the top three players in the world at the moment.

"Hey, the guy's good," Moura added.

"He's two metres tall, strong, and the Liverpool team is a very good fit, with a lot of chemistry.

"So he had an excellent season. He was elected the best in the Premier League, I think. In the world... there are a lot of people there. But for the season, I think he's among the top three. Among the top three!"
