Dejan Lovren has decided to take a swipe at Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos.

The 29-year-old Croatian centre-back took no prisoners when he criticised the 32-year-old Spaniard.

"If you look, Ramos, he has many more mistakes than me but he's at Real Madrid," Lovren said (via Sport English).

"With [Cristiano] Ronaldo, when you make a mistake, it's 5-1, 5-2 and nobody sees the mistake. I'm quite unlucky, when I make the mistake it's 1-0.

"Definitely. At this moment and in previous years, yeah. He won the Champions League and the World Cup, I think he should be the best defender in the world but they chose Ramos (for the awards)."

The Spain international and captain, who has been no stranger to controversy, has responded to the Liverpool star. However, Ramos' response might surprise quite a few football fans.

"I've said it many times," he said (via Daily Mirror). "I don't know if these things are said out of frustration or for other reasons.

"I'm not going to answer Lovren or whoever wants to win three front pages or start the news bulletin.

"Everyone wins things for himself on the pitch."

Earlier this month, Ramos caused quite a stir online after a challenge he made against Viktoria Plzeň's Milan Havel in the Champions League. Meanwhile, he recently revealed a promise that he made about his penalty kick-taking technique.
