Real Madrid will demand Sadio Mané is included in any deal from Liverpool for Marco Asensio, according to stunning reports in Spain.

Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp wants to challenge for the Premier League title next season and has identified the Madrid star, 23, as a marquee summer signing.

But Spanish publication El Desmarque reports that it would come at a major cost to the Reds.

Liverpool would have to splash out £67m (€75m) plus one of their star players to push ahead with the deal.

Los Blancos have been linked with Mané, 27, in recent months and Zinedine Zidane is keen to make him one of his final signings.

The Liverpool boss wants Asensio, who can be deployed as a winger or attacking midfielder, to provide another attacking option for his team.

And in the case of Mohamed Salah being injured, the former Borussia Dortmund head coach could call upon the Spaniard for a spot on the wing.

Asensio is under contract until 2023 and commands a whopping €700m release clause in his current deal.

Madrid would be willing to drop from their outrageous release clause price should Liverpool make a £67m offer along with Mané.

The Spanish club cracked open their war chest this summer and released the funds needed for Zidane to overhaul his squad.

Los Blancos completed their marquee signing of Eden Hazard from Chelsea for an initial fee of £88.5m.

But they also splashed out on the acquisitions of Luka Jović from Eintracht Frankfurt, Ferland Mendy from Lyon and Éder Militão from Porto.

Madrid have taken their spending close to £300m and would be willing to offload a player like Asensio in a cash-plus-player deal.

Klopp, 52, is preparing for the start of Liverpool's pre-season tour following their Champions League triumph last season.

The Reds will be in action against Tranmere Rovers on Thursday at Prenton Park ahead of their clash with Bradford City on Sunday at the Northern Commercials Stadium.
