Steven Gerrard looks to be using his contacts at Liverpool to great effect, with youngster Ovie Ejaria in line to become the Rangers' boss next signing at Ibrox.

So far this summer, Allan McGregor has returned to the blue half of Glasgow, Scott Arfield has joined on a free transfer and Jamie Murphy has penned a three-year contract after impressing on loan from Brighton in 2017/18.

With funds limited, Gerrard has also been touted with making a slew of loan additions from his old club and according to the Daily Record, Ejaria is poised to sign on loan for the season in the next 48 hours.

The 20-year old was in the Arsenal youth academy for nine years before making the move to Liverpool in 2014. He made eight appearances for the Reds' in 2016/17, including a start in a 2-0 League Cup win over Spurs at Anfield.

In January, he was loaned out to Sunderland in the Championship, making 11 appearances as the Black Cats endured more misery and suffered a second successive relegation.

He is to get more experience away from Liverpool this season, with former Liverpool Under 18 boss Gerrard drafting in the England Under 21 international.

The midfielder could be one of many Liverpool loanees to join the ranks. Dominic Solanke, who has been a bit-part player on Merseyside after joining from Chelsea, has been heavily rumoured withmaking the switch.

The 20-year old was asked about Gerrard taking on the Gers' job and is quoted as saying the following:

"Gerrard's a legend. He has done so much for Liverpool and for football.

"I'm happy he has got the Rangers job and it will be good for him. I'm intrigued to see how he's going to do."

With regular football hard to come by at Anfield, Solanke desperately needs a loan move away and a temporary switch to Scotland could be exactly what the Under 20 World Cup winner needs.
