Liverpool are getting a helping hand from former player Lucas Leiva ahead of their Champions League semi-final second leg against Roma next week.

The Reds, who take a 5-2 lead to the Italian capital next week, will train at the training ground of Roma's rivals, and Lucas club, Lazio.

Sky in Italy say that the Brazilian acted as an "intermediary" in making the agreement happen, with Liverpool train twice at Formello - once prior to the big game at the Stadio Olimpico before a second session the day after.

Lazio granted Manchester City access to their facilities when they faced Roma ahead of their 2-0 victory in the final group stage game in the 2014/15 Champions League.

Lucas signed for the Anfield club in 2007 from Gremio and the 31-year old went on to make over 346 appearances. Still a huge hit with Liverpool fans, the former No.21 revealed in a recent interview that he is hoping to be in the away end for Wednesday's second leg.

"I'm still thinking about it, but I'm hoping I can go to the Liverpool end and watch the game - and maybe take some of my friends and my son," he told Liverpool's official website.

"We still follow Liverpool a lot, we watch every game and I hope they can get to the final."
