Liverpool's deadline day signing Ozan Kabak was given a four-game ban for spitting at an opponent earlier this season.
Having experienced a monumental defensive crisis in recent times, the Premier League champions were desperate for centre-backs reinforcements on the final day of the January window.
They moved for Preston North End defender Ben Davies but also completed a loan for Turkish international Kabak from Schalke.

Reds fans will be hoping he can add some defensive solidity in the absence of Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip, but they might be aware of a disgraceful moment he was involved in earlier this season.
The 20-year-old was sent off for struggling Schalke in a 3-1 loss at home to Werder Bremen in September. His dismissal came as a result of two yellow cards but he ended up being banned for four games.
That's because late in the game, Kabak tussled with Bremen's Ludwig Augustinsson and left him on the deck.
Then, when on the floor, footage appeared to show Kabak spitting at the Swede. He was subsequently punished for his conduct but gave a very vague apology.
"I have never done anything like this and will never do it because it is simply unsporting. This was very unfortunate. In any case, my apologies to Ludwig," Kabak tweeted.

The deal for Kabak is a loan with an option to buy for €30 million.
Schalke drafted in Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi in as his replacement, with the German international reuniting with former teammate Sead Kolasinac in Gelsenkirchen after terminating his contract at the Emirates Stadium.
