Liverpool Star Ruled Out For 'A Couple Of Months' With Injury

No, it's not Daniel Sturridge

When you hear the words 'Liverpool' and 'injury' your mind immediately conjures up images of Daniel Sturridge slipping on one of the extra green peppers he ordered on his six inch chicken teriyaki sub from Subway and subsequently missing half the season.

OK, maybe YOUR mind doesn't immediately go there, but it's a scenario that's bound to happen at some point.

Anyway, far flung fast food scenarios aside, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has just been dealt a serious piece of injury news, only this time it's regarding Adam Lallana.

The England international has become an integral part of Klopp's first team at Anfield over the past 18 months, but will play no part in the opening two months of the season, after suffering an injury during Liverpool's Audi Cup final match against Bayern Munich, earlier this week.

Speaking to Liverpool's official club website, Klopp confirmed the news, saying, "This is certainly not news we would have wanted.

"Unfortunately, the damage is such that it will likely mean Adam is out for a couple of months not weeks, so I think we can pretty much rule him out of August and September.

"Beyond that we will monitor and wait and see. He is a boy with a world-class attitude to everything professionally and he has always come back in good time from injury setbacks since I have been here, so we will see."

The 29-year-old attacking midfielder has made 125 appearances for the Reds since arriving at Anfield from Southampton in a £25 million deal three years ago, scoring 21 goals along the way. Lallana was named England's Player Of The Year in 2016 for his impressive performances for the national team.

With a tricky Champions League qualifier with Bundesliga outfit Hoffenheim to negotiate as well as the beginning of the new Premier League season, which includes early clashes with Arsenal and Manchester City, Klopp will be hoping the rest of his squad can remain fit ahead of what could prove to be a pivotal season in the German manager's Liverpool career.
