Liverpool new boy Ben Davies' journey to Anfield has been a unique one.

The 25-year-old has spent his entire career at Preston North End and was sent on loan to the likes of York City, Tranmere Rovers, Southport, Newport County and Fleetwood Town.

He's now secured a quite incredible career move that shows just how far the defender has progressed over the years.

After all, not too long ago Davies was trying to sell a sofa on Twitter. In need of getting rid, he advertised the small couch on the social media channel in the hope that someone fancied it.

He wrote: "Anyone want to buy a corner sofa? Great condition and rarely used.. message me if interested."

Liverpool supporters soon got wind of the hilarious tweet and so when he did his first interview with the official club website, he was asked about the sofa tweet.

"What was my tweet?" Davies asked, with the reporter reminding him he was trying to sell a sofa.

Then quizzed on what ever happened to the sofa, he replied, "Someone bought it. Someone that I played with at Southport, messaged me, and came and picked it up. They got it for a good price!"

From selling sofas on Twitter to signing for the Premier League champions. Life really does come at you fast.

After a "hectic" 24 hours, Davies and Schalke centre-back Ozan Kabak joined on deadline day as the Reds look to fix their defensive crisis following long-term injuries to Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip.

"Obviously it came as a bit of a surprise when it first came out but once you start to get your head around it, the opportunity that is in front of me is incredible and I'd be silly to let it wash up or not make the most of it," Davies said.

"I think in the Championship, especially this season, I've felt more and more comfortable playing there and I can get through games, not with ease but fairly comfortably and I think now, regardless of where I was going to go, I was going to look to move on to get a new challenge.

"For it to be here, with the league champions, is obviously a bit surreal at the minute, but it's something that I'm really going to get my teeth into and look forward to."

Davies takes the No.28 shirt but he has apparently been forced to delete a tweet where he said: "Nobody likes Scousers. Not even Scousers like Scousers."
