Jürgen Klopp's revolution at Liverpool suffered a new blow after the club had a bid rejected for one of Europe's top-rated prospects.

Manchester United have reportedly beaten the Reds to the signing of one player, but the 51-year-old former Borussia Dortmund manager has been forced back to the drawing board.

According to Correio da Manhã, Liverpool have had a €70m bid rejected for Benfica star João Félix.

The Portuguese newspaper has added that Benfica president Luís Felipe Vieira believes that the Premier League club's offer falls well below their estimation.

The 19-year-old attacking midfielder recently signed a contract extension with the Primeira Liga side and has a €120m release clause.

Correio da Manhã has claimed that Liverpool are not the only club to show interest in Félix, with Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester City, Barcelona and Monaco all keeping a close watch on the Portuguese footballer.

The Record has also focused on Félix, with the newspaper suggesting that Portugal manager Fernando Santos is preparing to call up the wonderkid for his first senior international appearance.

Liverpool remains top of the Premier League after 22 matches and are four points clear of reigning champions Manchester City.

Klopp's men will take on Crystal Palace tomorrow.

Speaking ahead of the match, the Liverpool boss was keen to stress that the club have much more progress to make under his leadership.

"I am interested in progress, but I don't judge it constantly," he said.

"I don't think about the games two or three weeks ago. Progress is something everybody should expect.

"The club gave us a fantastic opportunity to bring in outstanding players, to keep outstanding players. My job is to make sure we perform on the pitch.

"Where will we be in two or three years? I have no idea. But the age group is good. This season will not finish our development.

"It doesn't look like we'll lose any key player, it looks like the players are here with all they have, enjoying it with the other boys, in the stadium, training ground, we build a new training ground, another step in the future.

"The progress we made so far, I am not interested in, I am only interested in the progress we still have to make, there's a lot to do and everybody can see that."
