Sadio Mane has quickly endeared himself to Liverpool fans with a series of scintillating displays, this season since his Summer move from Southampton but we're not so sure many Reds fans will enjoy hearing who the Senegalese winger's hero is.
It turns out that Liverpool flop and Jamie Carragher's public enemy number one, El-Hadji Diouf, is an idol of Mane's, although we're guessing it's not due to Diouf's awful three seasons at Anfield.

Mane has this week been shortlisted for the African Player Of The Year award, a title Diouf won in 2001 and 2002 and the Liverpool man said that he wanted to emulate his hero's achievements.
"El Hadji Diouf is one of my heroes... I'll win it one day like him."

Diouf infamously labelled Steven Gerrard as a 'jealous man' in an interview with L'Equipe and was referred to as the worst striker to ever turn out for Liverpool by Carragher, who clearly wasn't impressed by the Senegalese forward's displays during his three years in a red shirt.
