Liverpool Fan 'Wouldn't Swap Salah For Messi', Says He's 'Overrated'

An interesting take to say the least...

A Liverpool fan phoned up talkSPORT and claimed Lionel Messi is "overrated" and he wouldn't even swap him for Mo Salah.

Messi won a record-breaking sixth Ballon d'Or on Monday night after a year in which he scored 54 goals for club and country and won a 34th career trophy by skippering Barcelona to La Liga.

The Argentine pipped Virgil van Dijk to the gong and Reds' fan Will was not happy with Messi coming out on top - leading to him going on the radio and spewing some daft opinions.

He started off with the predictable point about Messi only playing in a so-called "league with two teams" and suggesting he wouldn't be able to cut in the Premier League.

Then he stated that van Dijk was the more deserving winner of this year's Ballon d'Or, before explaining he feels Cristiano Ronaldo is the undisputed GOAT because he's done it in three different leagues - and that Messi isn't as good as people make out.

To finish off the silliness, he told Jason Cundy and Andy Goldstein he'd rather have Salah than "cry-baby" Messi.

Will may well have just been trolling but something tells us he was genuinely being serious in what he was saying, which is pretty frightening.

Messi has scored 625 goals in 733 games and broke countless records in his career here's Will saying he's overrated.

His argument about him only doing it in La Liga is nonsense as well; the 32-year old has consistently produced in the Champions League - with the four-time winner currently on 114 goals.

Similarly, the idea that he would struggle in England is a complete myth. Since the 2011-12 season, Messi has scored 26 times against the top six sides in the Premier League.

Only Sergio Aguero and Jamie Vardy have more goals against the big boys - which is pretty remarkable when you consider Messi plays in a different league.

If you don't appreciate Lionel Messi, then quite frankly you don't deserve to watch football.
