Lionel Messi's Boyhood Club React With Epic Meme After Barcelona Announce His Exit

Newell's Old Boys brilliantly reacted to Barcelona's bombshell announcement about Lionel Messi.

Messi's boyhood club shared a hilarious meme after Barca confirmed his departure from the Camp Nou on Thursday.

The Argentine side quote-tweeted the La Liga outfit's post on Twitter, with a picture of a dog wearing a hat.

Accompanied with the caption: "Hola Dios, soy yo de nuevo," which translates to "Hi God, its me again."

Newell are one of many teams supposedly in the race to sign Messi.

Their vice-president Cristian D'Amico even talked up the six-time Ballon d'Or winner returning to Argentina to play club football and likened it to Diego Maradona's situation.

He said: "It's a decision exclusively made by him and his family,' he said. 'We have to have the best possible context to help make a decision.

"When Maradona came to Newell's, nobody thought that he would come either. I hope to do something similar with Leo."

D'Amico added: "Obviously, that's not to be selling smoke. It's a difficult topic.

"What Newell's fan would not dream to see the best player in the world with the jersey of their team on? Time might allow such things, you have to be calm."
