Lionel Messi will take legal action against El Mundo for leaking the details of his Barcelona contract, according to stunning reports.

The Spanish outlet sensationally leaked details of Messi's enormous contract, claiming he earns €555,237,619 over four seasons if a series of conditions are met.

His four-year deal at the Camp Nou included a signing-on bonus of €115,225,000 for accepting the initial renewal and a huge loyalty bonus of €77,929,955.

Reports suggest Messi is furious with the revelation while adding that the six-time Ballon d'Or winner is preparing legal action against the newspaper.

The player's lawyer is preparing a lawsuit and is studying how to involve club people with access to his contract, per RAC1.

Barcelona have since released a statement, denying any responsibility of the leaked publication.

"FC Barcelona categorically denies any responsibility for the publication of this document, and will take appropriate legal action against the newspaper El Mundo, for any damage that may be caused as a result of this publication.

"The club expresses its absolute support for Messi, especially in the face of any attempt to discredit his image, and to damage his relationship with the entity where he has worked to become the best player in the world and in football history."

Messi's current deal expires at the end of the season with the 33-year-old linked with a move to Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain.
