Lionel Messi Thwacks In An Outrageous Volley Against Sevilla

Unbelievable tekkers...

Lionel Messi continued his insane record against Sevilla in stunning fashion, though the goal isn't actually one you normally associate with the five-time Ballon d'Or.

Jesus Navas put the hosts ahead in the 22nd minute but it wasn't long before the La Liga champions and league leaders were back on level terms courtesy of their talisman.

Messi was involved in the build-up (of course he was) and when the ball was floated back in by Ivan Rakitic, he finished off the move by displaying some quite unbelievable technique to volley home into the top bins. No stopping the strike whatsoever.

Incredibly, it was Messi's 34th goal in 37 games against Sevilla and it might just be the best goal he's scored against the Andalusian outfit.

Given he's scored more goals against them than any other opposition he's faced, Sevilla are no doubt absolutely sick of him tearing them a new one on so many occasions.

It was also the Argentine ace's 23rd goal in 23 games in La Liga this season and it might just be the winner for Messi's goal of the season competition - which is saying something judging by his ridiculously high standards.

We're so used to seeing him dribble through four or five players before chipping the goalie that we almost forgot that he was also capable of conjuring up venomous volleys as well.

He was actually at fault for the Sevilla opener when he gave the ball away but the 31-year old responded in the only way he knows how to. It's too bad, he's just too good.
