Lionel Messi scored two archetypal beauties from outside the box as Barcelona blitzed Alaves 5-1 on Saturday evening.

The six-time Ballon d'Or winner doubled Barca's lead in first-half stoppage time when he curled one in off the post and then came up with an even better strike in the second half.

Fed by Antoine Griezmann, Messi dropped his shoulder to beat a defender and then arrowed in the most perfect effort into the top corner with his wand of a left foot.

It was the perfect combination of power and accuracy from Messi, who has scored goals of this ilk time and time again.

Portugal prospect Francisco Trincao also helped himself to a brace in the thumping win, while Junior Firpo opened his account for the club.

But understandably the onus was on Messi again after yet another masterclass. For the first time since April 2019, Messi has scored in five consecutive La Liga games and is now on 17 in 27 games this term.

Incredibly, as a result of his two worldies this evening, Messi has now scored 126 goals from outside of the box in his career.

Overall, his tally now stands at a ridiculous 724 goals and 304 assists in 901 matches. There will never be anyone like him ever again.
