Manchester City remain the clear favourites to sign Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi this summer, according to bookies.

The 33-year-old Argentine superstar on Tuesday 'informed' the Spanish side that he wants to trigger his contract clause to leave the Camp Nou on a free.

And Betfair has revealed that a reunion between former Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola and Messi at City is currently the odds-on favourite.

City lead the way with 6/4 odds and Inter Milan and Paris Saint-Germain are on 4/1 odds.

A reunion between Messi and fierce rival Cristiano Ronaldo at Juventus is 4/1, while Manchester United and Liverpool are 13/2 and 14/1 respectively.

Barcelona president Josep Bartomeu insisted last week that Messi wanted to end his career at the Camp Nou.

"Messi wants to end his career at Barca, he has said that many times. I've spoken to Koeman about him and he has told me Messi will be the pillar of his project," he said.
