Lionel Messi And Cristiano Ronaldo Might Just Be Time Travellers After Pictures Emerge

The resemblance is uncanny...

Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo's abilities on the pitch are endless but is time travel also part of their incredible skill-sets?

We're asking that question after pictures of old players displaying a frightening resemblance to the pair of footballing titans began to do the rounds on social media.

First, we had a picture of what looks like the spitting image of Lionel Messi in an Athletic Bilbao club suit back in 1969 - some years before the six-time Ballon d'Or winner was born.

It's actually Javier Clemente, a former Spanish footballer who played for and later managed Athletic - winning two La Liga titles. But we're sure you'll agree that a young Clemente looks eerily similar to Barcelona's all-time top scorer.

That's not all though, as Ronaldo too has a football doppelganger from the past. Dragoslav Šekularac was a legendary Serbian footballer who scored over 100 goals for Red Star Belgrade.

He also played in Germany with Karlsruher RC, had a stint in France with Paris FC, as well as playing in Colombia, the United States and Canada before embarking on a varied career in management.

Remarkably, there is a link between he and Ronaldo - that's because his grandson Kristian is now playing for Juventus Under 17's and wore the No.7 shirt on his debut.

What a story it would be if he ends up playing in the same side as the Portuguese superstar, said to be his idol, at some point in the near future.

Anyway, that's enough mind-bending for today...
