Lionel Messi opened the scoring for Barcelona against Eibar this afternoon with a vintage Messi goal.

14 minutes into the game, the Argentine received the ball from Frenkie de Jong on the turn and promptly drove at the opposition backline.

He then nipped in between two defenders, nutmegging one in glorious fashion before delicately dinking the ball into the corner.

It was Messi's 20th goal of the season and quite the way to end his longest La Liga goal drought since 2013/14 after the six-time Ballon d'Or winner went four games without scoring.

Not content with just the one, Messi went and helped himself to a further two goals in 40 minutes to score his third hat-trick of the campaign this term.

Incredibly, in scoring four at the Nou Camp, the 32-year old has now racked up over 1000 goal contributions (goals and assists) in his career.
