From teammates to rivals. While Robert Lewandowski moved away from Borussia Dortmund, he's remained a healthy respect for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and he's brilliantly shown that after sending him a classy message following the completion of his Arsenal transfer.

The lethal Gabon striker has dominated the summer, and January window, before finally sealing a transfer to Emirates, this morning. Not to mention the news accompanied with a video from Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

Arsenal have secured his services for a club record £56 million, as he cuts his ties with Germany's top flight.

And as he's waved goodbye to the Bundesliga, he'll no longer compete against Lewandowski domestically.

The pair forged a prolific partnership before he left in 2014 to join Bayern Munich. And now Aubameyang has departed Borussia Dortmund, Lewandowski has issued a classy message.

He Tweeted the following message: "Good luck @Aubameyang7 It was a pleasure to compete with you. Only a healthy fight is pushing us forward."

Class.

Meanwhile, Aubameyang's former club also delivered their own statement, while throwing a parting shot: "Apart from the unpleasant events of recent weeks, we like to remember that the story of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang at BVB for more than four years was a single success story. He has done great things for Borussia Dortmund at this time, scored many important goals and is part of the team that brought the DFB Cup to Dortmund in 2017. We wish Pierre-Emerick all the best for his future at Arsenal."

The Arsenal faithfuls will be hoping Aubameyang hits the ground running, especially with his new side suffering an embarrassing loss to Swansea City on Tuesday night.

The Gunners are back in action against Everton in the league on Saturday afternoon, then it's the big one - North London derby. An occasion where Aubameyang could become an instant cult-hero.
