Roy Keane Brutally Put Kieran Richardson In His Place For The Way He Showed Up To Training

Kieran Richardson was also amongst the players that Manchester United legend Roy Keane criticised during his infamous 2005 MUTV interview.

Manchester United legend Roy Keane savagely dismissed Kieran Richardson from training when he turned up with the "car roof down and his music blaring out."

That's according to former United youth player Febian Brandy, who recalled the power and influence that the Irishman had as captain at the Red Devils.

Richardson was only 18 when he managed to break into the United first team and Brandy suggested that the former Red Devils player thought he had 'finally made it' at the club.

However, Richardson would learn the hard way about Keane's no-nonsense attitude when he turned up for training.

"I was about 13 when Kieran Richardson had just made the first-team squad," Brandy said.

"He came into training one day with the car roof down and his music blaring out. He thought he was the man.

"Unfortunately for him, Roy Keane was walking into the car park. He pointed at him and said, 'Turn your music off and go home. Don't come back here today.'"

Richardson played for United from 2002 until 2007 -- including a brief loan spell at West Brom -- and would later play at Sunderland, Fulham, Aston Villa and Cardiff City.

The former England international, who retired in 2016, was amongst the players that Keane criticised during his infamous 2005 MUTV interview.

However, Keane has suggested that his comments on Richardson and the other players were taken out of context.

The former Nottingham Forest star wrote in his second autobiography: "Apparently, I described Kieran Richardson as a lazy defender.

"But Kieran Richardson isn't a defender. Some players, out of position, defend lazily; they don't get back quickly enough."

Brandy, meanwhile, failed to make his mark at United and had loan spells at Swansea City, Hereford United and Gillingham during his time at Old Trafford.
