Sergio Ramos has been hailed as the best defender of all time in a fan's stunning compilation as the Real Madrid star is set to miss out on Euro 2020.

The 35-year-old Spaniard is widely regarded as one of the best defenders in history after a sensational career for club and country.

Ramos' 16-year playing career with Madrid has seen him ascend to club captain and captured five La Liga titles, four Champions Leagues, two Copa del Reys and four Spanish Super Cups.

The Madrid skipper's silverware success has carried over to the international stage as he has lifted two European Championships and the World Cup with Spain.

That's not to mention Ramos is Spain's most capped player with a whopping 180 appearances alongside his joint eighth-place position in the country's all-time top scorers.

However, Ramos will not captain Spain at the forthcoming Euro 2020 after head coach Luis Enrique left him out of his 24-man squad.

"It was a very difficult decision but he [Ramos] has not been able to play this season and has hardly trained since January," Enrique said.

"I called him yesterday [Sunday] -- it was hard, difficult.

"I feel bad, because he is very professional and he helps the national team a lot. And he can still help it in the future. But I have to look for the best for the squad."

Despite what will be his noticeable absence at the Euros, the Spain international's finest moments for Madrid on the pitch have been highlighted in a compilation.

"Sergio Ramos needs new haters, the old ones are starting to love him," one fan posted.

Someone else wrote: "It's crazy to see the evolution from right-back to the central defender he is today."

And a third added: "I don't like his personality, but Ramos is truly great and that is an understatement."

While a fourth said: "His anticipation is surreal, his tackling is brutal. Most attackers realise they lost possession [only a] few seconds after he tackles them!"

Ramos has since broken his silence on social media over his omission from the Spain squad, saying it "hurts" that he won't be travelling with his side for Euro 2020.

The Spanish centre-back said: "I have fought and worked every day, in body and soul, to be able to reach 100 [per cent] for Real Madrid and the national team but things don't always work out the way we'd like."
