Unsurprisingly, Twitter users feel that the Rangers boss would still be able to do the bits for the Scottish Premiership side.
Honestly, he should sign a player/manager deal not kidding- Sam (@samjsneddon1872) 12 January 2019
i wonder if the assistant manager looks at that and thinks "he could still do a job"- RangersMedia (@RangersMedia) 12 January 2019

Can't help but feel he'd still be the best player in the country by a country mile.- Craig Anderson (@micknsiv) 12 January 2019
My only real regret about Steve G is he isn't a player/ manager for us.- David McPherson (@DavidMc88624620) 12 January 2019
100%! Prob so frustrating for him playing players he knows he's better than- Stephen Teggart (@TeggartStephen) 13 January 2019
Come on gaffer, you know it makes sense. Even at 38 years old you could still give us at least 60 minutes in every game and that would be enough to see us win those games. I'm sure @IAmJermainDefoe and @morelos2106 would love to have you sending in the balls that help them score- Alan McNamara (@AlaaMcNamara) 13 January 2019
The former England international has been a busy man in the January transfer window, bringing in Jermain Defoe on loan from Bournemouth as he looks to mount a title challenge against Celtic.
"It's so exciting to have the options because we haven't really had that," Gerrard told Rangers TV.
"We've only really had one or two ways of playing and we've tended to stick with that.
"When we use Jermain, if we use him with another forward, everyone else will maybe have to adapt and evolve."
Will Rangers win the Scottish Premiership title this season?
