Cristiano Ronaldo should be a case study for his incredible genetics and mental traits according to Jose Mourinho.

Ronaldo, 34, is now the leading scorer in European qualifiers after smashing in FOUR goals against Lithuania on Tuesday to improve his tally to 93 international goals.

The Portuguese international has 25 European qualifiers goals to his name, and his former coach Mourinho has said the superstar forward is worthy of a case study.

"It doesn't surprise me," the ex-Real Madrid and Manchester United manager said about his former player.

"At 34, he is top in the world, in a top team, in top condition. I'm not surprised whatsoever because genetically and mentally he is a case study.

"He is someone that only thinks about winning, about beating records, achieving more and becoming better. He is truly a phenomenon and it really doesn't surprise me.

"When he is 50 years old he will be at home and FIFA will invite him to a game of legends. He will play the game and score a goal. I am sure it will be like that."

A case study on Ronaldo? Every player would want to examine it. He continues to deliver and break records despite the player in his mid-30s.

Portugal head coach Fernando Santos believes Ronaldo's four-goal haul is "clear and irrevocable proof" that he's the best player in world football.

"This is the clear and irrevocable proof that he is the best player in the world," he said after his side's 5-1 victory.

"There is no stadium in the world where Ronaldo is not applauded. He is the best in the world.

"We went to Paris in my first game, and the hotel in France was just across the street. There were a thousand people at our door.

"I think it's strange when he doesn't score. They say it is ending... Nothing is ending. You have to be careful because it never ends."
