A self-proclaimed Cristiano Ronaldo fan has produced a comprehensive Twitter thread on why Lionel Messi is better than the Juventus superstar on the international stage.

Messi, 33, won the World Cup Golden Ball in 2014 and Copa America Golden Ball in 2015 with Argentina.

The Argentina captain has led his country to the final of the 2014 World Cup and the 2015 and 2016 Copa America finals.

Messi, who is Argentina's record scorer, has been criticised for his lack of major silverware with his country.

Ronaldo, on the other hand, played in the final of Euro 2004 and would later captain his country to the Euro 2016 title.

The 35-year-old Portuguese superstar, who is the all-time record scorer for his country, also lifted the Nations League title in 2019.

But now one fan has produced a compelling argument for why Barcelona superstar Messi is better than Portugal captain Ronaldo at international level.

Other fans took to Twitter and showed admiration for the self-proclaimed Ronaldo fan's argument for Messi 'being better' on the international stage.
