AC Milan manager Gennaro Gattuso was known as a no nonsense character during his 18 year playing career.

The Italian was one of the most passionate and hardworking players in our generation. There was no doubt that he would pass blood, sweat and tears during a game, giving everything for the cause. Some might even say that he was the ultimate professional.

Looking at the likes of Gennaro Gattuso and Roy Keane, who were two characters that changed games with their personality and attitude, you can barely name one player who share such drive in the modern game.

Gattuso, who recently took over at Milan after AC Milan decided to sack Vincenzo Montella, has had his say on the modern day player and it's absolutely fantastic.

"When I lost a match I broke down in frustration. Today players lose, take a selfie and put it on the Internet. They make me sick." Gattuso said.

The 39-year-old will try and bring back the glory days of old, and he certainly knows how it feels to be a winner. He won the Champions League, Serie A and Copa Italia titles during his 13 year spell at the San Siro. becoming a club legend in the process.

What a quote. Will he succeed as a manager, though? Gattuso isn't exactly an experienced, proven manager at the highest level and during his time at Pisa last season, he gave us a potential glimpse of the future at Milan.

The 39-year-old eventually decided to leave Pisa after citing "serious, constant and unacceptable" problems at the club, but one moment in particular grabbed the headlines during his time at the club.

During an important tie against SPAL, who could have taken an 11-point lead at the top of Lega Pro if they picked up three points against Gattuso's side, the Italian slapped his assistant in the face after getting a little bit too passionate.

The funny thing is, Gattuso's Pisa were in a winning position when the slap occurred, with his team eventually going onto win the match.

A sign of things to come at AC Milan?
