Brazil legend Pele has sneakily made an 'upgrade' to his Instagram bio after Cristiano Ronaldo broke his goalscoring record.

Juventus superstar Ronaldo, 35, scored a brace in his side's 4-1 victory over Udinese at the Allianz Stadium on Sunday.

And the five-time Ballon d'Or winner notched up his 758th goal and climbed ahead of Pele in the all-time goalscoring charts.

However, eagle-eyed fans have spotted that Pele has updated his Instagram to claim that he is football's all-time record scorer.

The three-time World Cup winner's bio now suggests that he has scored 1,283 goals, which is a dramatic increase on the goal haul linked to his name.

Slavia Prague legend Josef Bican is currently recognised as the player with the most goals scored in history, with 805 goals in 530 matches between 1931 and 1955.

Fans have wasted no time in taking to Twitter to mock Pele for the update to his goal tally and committing the 'ultimate s**thouse' move.

"If Ronaldo and [Lionel] Messi also count all their club friendlies goals, youth goals, FIFA and PES Goals [sic], I'm sure they'll be having somewhere close to 2000 already," one Twitter user wrote.

While another tweeted: "Pele is a Joker [sic] man, he was great footballer, but the way he's acted since retiring is of astounding arrogance."

And a third added: "Just can't concede he lost that record."

A fourth said: "This is getting petty now. He'll randomly score a goal in his backyard and start adding to his tally now."

Pele congratulated Ronaldo's fierce rival Lionel Messi last year after he broke his long-held record for the most goals scored for a single club.

However, the Brazilian's former club Santos has hit out at Messi's feat and claimed that Pele scored over 1,000 goals.

UPDATE: Pele has since broken his silence over claims that he changed his Instagram bio by releasing a statement to staunchly deny that he made any such amendments after Cristiano Ronaldo surpassed his goalscoring record. You can read the full story here.
