VAR Denies Leeds United Goal Against West Ham In Tight Offside Call
The first was an agonising offside call that went against Helder Costa and saw Tyler Roberts' goal chalked off early on at the London Stadium.
Costa's knee-cap was deemed to have been slightly ahead of Vladimir Coufal's foot in the move and after the linesman brought his flag up, VAR did the mandatory check, got the lines out and elected to disallow the goal.
It was another incredibly tight call and fans were venting on Twitter:
how can somebody look at that and decide its offside?
yes it's funny because it's leeds, but this is becoming beyond a joke at this point pic.twitter.com/88vz0khm1S

I'll take it but level shouldn't be offside. I think that Leeds goal should've stood

How on earth is that offside? Leeds should be 1-0 up, the officiating has been beyond abysmal this season in the PL #WHULEE

Another madness offside decision for Leeds there.
That's up there with the Mane Derby goal and the one West Brom scored against us recently were I just can't see an offside.

Leeds have been mugged off. Wasn't offside and wasn't out. Should be 2-0 down.

I wouldn't say I like Leeds, not one-bit @premierleague @SkySportsPL, but that was never offside. The technology doesn't exist to draw those lines; why do we have to endure this nonsense? You're killing the game, your product! pic.twitter.com/FoseB5o4t9

Costa was never offside. We have copped a few bad Offside VAR calls this year. #WHULEE #Leeds

The Leeds goal that was ruled out for offside when is this going to stop. Draw the lines all you want but that's ridiculous. If Hélder Costa is being ruled offside for the tip off his knee then I don't know what to say anymore, Tyler Roberts had the ball in the net but not given.

What sort of machine draws the lines on the VAR thingy? That Leeds goal was so NOT offside. Dean and Marriner - what a pair!

Not just because it's Leeds but offside decisions like this from VAR that's ruining football #VAR pic.twitter.com/knt5yjnxc9

That offside call for Leeds is pathetic. Them sort of decisions should go to the attacker in my opinion.

Isn't just Leeds, has been happening all season, but this shouldn't be offside. #lufc #MOT #WHULEE pic.twitter.com/7e0t3X7ZSr

Almost immediately after, Patrick Bamford had the ball in the net but Raphinha was adjudged to have ran the ball out of play in the build-up.
West Ham went 1-0 up after Jesse Lingard won a penalty that was saved by Illan Meslier - but only pushed back into the on-loan Manchester United man's path to score on the rebound.
Craig Dawson added a second with a header from an Aaron Cresswell corner, continuing Leeds' wretched record from set-pieces.
