Leaked audio of Cristiano Ronaldo hours before his transfer to Manchester United shows him working as an agent, trying to get a move for Bruno Alves.

Man United and Manchester City both pursued Ronaldo before he opted to rejoin the Old Trafford club in a blockbuster transfer.

The 36-year-old agreed to sign for Man United, who announced a deal had been reached on Friday.

Before completing his return to The Red Devils, a conversation took place between the five-time Ballon d'Or winner and a friend.

The audio of the chat has since been leaked and shared online by Futmais, who claim the Portuguese international tried to negotiate a transfer for Bruno Alves to Nacional.

In the leaked audio, he said via Tribuna: "Palhinhas what's up? My situation will be done today this afternoon, tonight, or tomorrow morning at the latest.

"Either Manchester United or Manchester City, both are fighting to sign me and it's going to be closed."

Ronaldo continued by seeking to engineer a move for the veteran defender.

"I heard Nacional are in a tough situation, would you be interested in Bruno Alves? I think he would be an asset with his experience and quality despite his age.

"He was at Parma and signed with Famalicao but fell out with the manager and terminated his contract.

"Do you think he's a valid option? I think he is. Talk to the manager or someone at the club, he's a free agent at the moment."

So, like Ronaldo says in the lead audio, Alves, 39, enjoyed a stint at Parma before penning a deal at Famalicao.

Two weeks later, however, after falling out with the management, he cancelled his contract.

Ronaldo, meanwhile, is expected to undergo a medical in Lisbon before officially completing his transfer back to Man United.

He could then be available to face Newcastle United at Old Trafford on September 11.
