Lazar Markovic completed a move away from Liverpool in January by signing for Anderlecht, but his career in Belgium has got off to a nightmare start.

Then-Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers splashed out £20 million to sign the Serbian winger in 2014 from Benfica. But he's failed to impress.

In order to get his career back on track, Markovic has been loaned out to a couple of sides in Europe as well as England's second tier.

He was shipped off to Turkey with Fenerbahce before returning to Portugal through Sporting Lisbon, while spending time in the Championship last season at Hull City.

And the 23-year-old is once again on the move. Jurgen Klopp has sent him to Anderlecht.

But before even kicking a ball, his time with the Belgium outfit isn't looking good. Markovic reportedly produced 'abysmal' results in his physical tests upon signing for Anderlecht, according to Anderlecht Online.

As a result, he's now being put on a special fitness programme.

The club expect him to return to full-fitness in around four to six weeks.

Manager Hein Vanhaezebrouck commented on Markovic's situation saying the following last week via Mirror: "I think we will be without him for four or five weeks.

"He has a very big gap and is conditional not yet ready to play.

"So there is a lot of work to be done, but we hope that he can make rapid progress. He can play in different positions, but he has to get up to speed quickly," he added.
