Las Vegas United Owner Is Being Hugely Ambitious With Transfer Plans

He's confident of bringing in some big-hitters!

When an owner purchases a relatively small football club, it's natural that they want to well and truly put the club on the map.

And the most obvious method to do that is to splash the cash on well-known players who have a global appeal and will generate publicity as well as being pretty handy on the pitch.

Clubs in the MLS take on that approach, with a whole host of players moving to the league in the latter stages of their career. Bastian Schweinsteiger is the most recent example of a big, established name heading to the league - following on from the likes of Andrea Pirlo, David Villa, Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard and David Beckham. The list goes on.

You'd think that for the clubs in the lower echelons of football in the United States, it would be much more difficult to land the big guns.

However the owner of Las Vegas United clearly sees no difficulty and is targeting some big moves.

Marcio Granada recently appeared on Radio RDG Deportes in California and outlined his big ambitions for the United Premier Soccer League Nevada Conference side.

For starters, he wants the great Ronaldinho, not officially retired, to play for his club, who are one of three amateur sides hailing from Vegas.

But weirdly enough, the Ronaldinho link doesn't seem so strange when you consider the fact that R10 turned out in Las Vegas in a friendly against Miami United.

Speaking on the Radio RDG Deportes in California, he said:

"Last year we took Ronaldinho to take part in a friendly against the team that had Adriano, and it was a success. This year we want to repeat the action."

But not only does he want to bring Ronaldinho in, he wants two other big names.

He talked about former Brazil striker Adriano, who played in that friendly for the opposition, as well as former Porto and Chelsea midfielder Deco.

"We've even advanced a conversation to have Adriano, Deco and Ronaldinho Gaucho with the Las Vegas United shirt, so we can spread our club even further around the world."

Imagine those three playing in the same side in what is effectively non-league football but in America?

With that trio, you'd probably have enough off-pitch material to film the next 'Hangover' film as well.
