Frank Lampard is reportedly preparing a sensational swoop to bring Chelsea legend Didier Drogba back to Stamford Bridge as part of his coaching staff.
According to talkSPORT, the ex-Derby County boss is eyeing up a role for the retired Ivorian in his first season in charge at Chelsea.
Drogba, 41, wasted no time in taking to Instagram and welcoming Lampard back "home."
Drogba wrote: "Good luck, proud to see you coming back home @franklampard."
Lampard responded to his ex-Chelsea teammate with several heart emojis, with Deco and Mario Melchiot also showing their approval of his message.
The newly appointed Chelsea boss signed a three-year deal on Thursday and has started to lay the foundation for his spell in charge.
Jody Morris and Chris Jones, who were both part of his coaching staff at Derby, will be part of his backroom staff.
During his first press conference as Chelsea boss, Lampard confirmed that Morris would be his assistant head coach.
Joe Edwards will move up from the development squad and Eddie Newton will be promoted from his loan development position to a member of the coaching staff.
The Chelsea faithful would welcome Drogba's recruitment to the backroom with open arms.
And the Ivory Coast legend, who hinted last month that Lampard was 'in talks' with the club, placed his full support behind his former teammate as the next Chelsea boss.
"I think it is a very good option for the club," the ex-Marseille and Galatasaray striker told Goal last month.
"He has done well with Derby, you know, taking the team to the playoff final and I think it is a very good option for the club."
While some were quick to criticise Lampard's lack of managerial experience and silverware as a coach, Drogba slammed the idea that Chelsea's all-time record scorer wasn't ready for the next step up.
"So he is never going to be ready, then? Does he have to wait until he is 40 or 50 to be ready?" he said.
"I think it depends on your experience and depends on your desire to succeed and do it. If he feels ready, I don't think it is too early."
Drogba might be confident in Lampard, but bookies have him as the first Premier League manager to be axed next season.
