La Liga Mascots Can't Be Bigger Than A Normal Sized Person

La Liga has made headlines in recent times after they announced some regular season games would be played in the United States, but another bizarre rule to have been introduced by president Javier Tebas prevents clubs from having mascots bigger than a normal-sized person.

A 178-page document was given to all the clubs in the Spanish top tier but it includes some strange new regulations - the mascot size limit being the primary one.

The whole point of a club mascot is for them to be larger than life, ie 'Gunnersaurus' or 'Fred the Red' but La Liga chiefs are clamping down and have also stopped the mascots from being visible during the game.

As per One Football, some of the other rulings are actually much more reasonable - such as the pitches having to be a certain length, the final part of team talks being filmed and players who have been sent off not being able to be interviewed after the game.

But you have to feel for the mascots. Saying "normal sized person" isn't really specific enough so we still don't really know which mascots are passable and which are not. I guess we'll find out soon.

One can only imagine that if a club tried to follow in West Brom's footsteps in having a boiler as their mascot, they'd be told exactly where to go by La Liga.
