Ajax Winger Justin Kluivert has shed light on what Jose Mourinho said to him after the Europa League final in May.

The exciting youngster was not involved Stockholm but, after celebrating a second trophy of the season, Mourinho was straight over to Kluivert and the two were seen deep into conversation.

At the time, many thought that the Manchester United boss was chatting to the young Dutchman about a potential transfer, with links to the Red Devils coming about in the media.

However, eight months on he's revealed that wasn't the case. Instead of 'tapping' him up, Mourinho was merely catching up with Kluivert, having knew him when he was working for Barcelona, where his father, Patrick, was playing many years ago.

"Mourinho did not have a second to discuss a transfer," he told Algemeen Dagblad.

"He thought it was nice to see me. Mourinho knows me from the time that I was a little boy and my father played at Barcelona when Mourinho worked there as an assistant trainer."

So there you have it, just friendly chatter than a transfer arrangement, according to Kluivert Jr.

But due to the 18-year old's all-action performances this season, it's no surprise to hear he's attracting plenty of interest.

He finished the 2016/17 season with 20 appearances in all competitions, and he's already made 19 so far this term.

Football Manager wonderkids who flopped:

Kluivert, an explosive left winger who loves to cut inside, has six goals to his name this season - including a stunning hat-trick against Roda JC in November.

Having found the net in glorious fashion in the 45th, 60th and 85th minute respectively, he achieved something his famous father failed to do - score an Eredivisie hat-trick.

The kid is making serious waves, and though he's anything but the finished article, has the potential to do great things in the game. Who knows, maybe he'll turn out better than his dad!
