Jurgen Klopp Includes Surprise Player In Liverpool's Premier League Squad
As a result of a bit of an injury crisis in defence, Jurgen Klopp has made a surprise inclusion in his 25-man Premier League squad.
Joe Gomez and Trent Alexander-Arnold are both injured and Nathaniel Clyne's loan spell to Bournemouth meant James Milner had to deputise against Crystal Palace in the 4-3 win at Anfield a couple of weeks back.
However, the former England international was given a torrid time by Wilfried Zaha and was sent off late on for two ill-timed changes on the former Manchester United winger.
Club captain Jordan Henderson did a job against Leicester in midweek but Klopp has elected to bring 23-year old right-back Connor Randall into the fold.
The local lad and youth product has recently returned from a loan spell with Rochdale, where he didn't feature as much as he would have liked due to suffering a fractured cheekbone.
He spent last season on loan at Hearts over in Scotland, where he featured on 27 occasions.
Randall's last Premier League appearance for Liverpool's first-team actually came in Klopp's first season at the helm when he was a late substitute in a 2-0 win over Watford back in 2016.
The former Under 18's skipper featured once in 2016/17, playing the first half of a 2-1 FA Cup defeat to Wolves at Anfield.
And though he gives Liverpool another option on the right side of defence, it's fair to say Reds' fans aren't best pleased with his inclusion in their squad in one of the homegrown spots.
Will the decision to loan out Clyne come back to bite LiverpooL? Sound off in the comments.
