There's a lot riding on Liverpool's Premier League and Champions League campaigns.

Liverpool are in the thick of two different competitions. The Reds are neck-and-neck with Manchester City in a fascinating Premier League title race, and they're one game away from a spot in the Champions League final.

However, their European venture took a massive hit on Wednesday. They lost 3-0 to Barcelona with Liverpool's hopes for silverware now pinned on domestic success.

But his side are a point behind City whose destiny is in their own hands, thereby Klopp is in danger of breaking a promise.

The German boss arrived on Merseyside tasked with winning trophies.

And during his unveiling back in 2015, Klopp vowed to win a title within four years.

"Please give us time to do the work but when I sit here in four years, I think we may have one title," he said.

"If not maybe [I'll win] the next one in Switzerland."

Well, four years is nearly up, and Klopp still hasn't delivered a piece of silverware with the clock ticking.

As previously mentioned, he still has the chance to claim a title this season, but his team face an uphill challenge.

Klopp's quote from 2015 resurfaced online with FC Basel weighing in on his pledge.

"We feel honoured that Mr. Klopp seems to be interested in continuing his career in Switzerland - and that so many of you have suggested FC Basel as his next employer - but we're very happy with our current manager," the Swiss club brilliantly posted on social media.

Meanwhile, Klopp's Liverpool resume their league campaign against Newcastle United before hosting Barcelona in the return leg.

Will they secure a title this season? Let us know what you think.
